How much is PIP a week?

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is made up of two parts: a daily living component and a mobility component. You can be awarded one, both or neither, and each part is paid at a standard or enhanced rate depending on how your condition affects you. For 2025/26 the daily living rate is £76.70 (standard) or £114.60 (enhanced) a week, and the mobility rate is £30.30 (standard) or £80.00 (enhanced). PIP is normally paid every four weeks and is tax-free.

    💡 Quick answer

Someone awarded the enhanced daily living rate plus the standard mobility rate gets £114.60 + £30.30 = £144.90 a week, which is £579.60 every four weeks and around £7,535 a year.

    How PIP is assessed

PIP is not based on your income or savings — it is based on how your health condition or disability affects you, scored against a points system across daily living and mobility activities. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) usually arranges an assessment. To get a component you generally need 8 points for the standard rate and 12 points for the enhanced rate in that area. Our calculator works out the money once you know your award; if you want to estimate the points, try our PIP points calculator.

    PIP and other benefits

PIP is paid on top of most other benefits and does not count as income for Universal Credit. Getting PIP can also unlock extra help — such as the disability element in Universal Credit, a Blue Badge, or a council tax reduction. If you care for someone who receives the daily living component, you may be able to claim Carer's Allowance. Always report changes in your condition to the DWP, as your award can be reviewed.

    Frequently asked questions

How much is PIP per week in 2025/26?

PIP has two parts. The daily living component is £76.70 (standard) or £114.60 (enhanced) a week, and the mobility component is £30.30 (standard) or £80.00 (enhanced). The most you can get is £194.60 a week if awarded both enhanced rates.

Is PIP paid weekly or monthly?

PIP is usually paid every four weeks, not weekly or monthly. So a £76.70 weekly award is paid as £306.80 every four weeks. It is paid directly into your bank account and is tax-free.

Does PIP affect my other benefits?

No — PIP is paid on top of other benefits and is not means-tested, so your income and savings do not affect it. Getting PIP can actually increase other benefits, such as adding a disability element to Universal Credit.

What is the maximum PIP award?

The most PIP you can receive is the enhanced daily living rate (£114.60) plus the enhanced mobility rate (£80.00), which is £194.60 a week — about £10,119 a year, paid every four weeks and tax-free.

How many points do I need for PIP?

You generally need 8 points for the standard rate of a component and 12 points for the enhanced rate, scored across the daily living or mobility activities during your assessment.
