How PIP daily living points work
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with the extra costs of a long-term health condition or disability. The daily living component is scored across ten everyday activities — from preparing food to managing money. You collect points for the difficulty you have with each, and your total decides your rate: 8 to 11 points gives the standard rate, and 12 or more gives the enhanced rate.
In 2025/26 the daily living component is £73.90 a week (standard) or £110.40 a week (enhanced). Because PIP is paid every four weeks, that is roughly £295.60 or £441.60 each payment. Fewer than 8 points means no daily living award.

PIP and other support
PIP is tax-free and not means-tested, so it does not count as income for Universal Credit and is not affected by your savings. Getting the daily living component can also act as a "passport" — it satisfies the qualifying-benefit test for Carer's Allowance for someone who cares for you, and can add a disability premium to other awards. The mobility component is separate and paid on top where you qualify.
