Days Between Dates Calculator
Count the exact number of days, weeks, months and working days between any two dates — perfect for deadlines, notice periods and counting down to an event.
Days between dates
Exact day count with weekday option.
Working days exclude weekends only — UK public holidays are not deducted.
How to count days between dates
To find the number of days between two dates you subtract the earlier from the later. That sounds simple, but doing it by hand is error-prone because months have different lengths and leap years add a day. This calculator compares the two real calendar dates, so the total is always exact — including any 29 February inside the range.
The days between two dates treats the start as day zero. The inclusive count adds one to include both the first and last day — useful for things like counting holiday days or hotel nights.
What the calculator shows
| Measure | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Days between | Plain gap (start = day 0) |
| Inclusive days | Both start and end counted |
| Weeks & days | Total split into weeks |
| Working days | Monday–Friday only |
Working days and deadlines
Many deadlines — notice periods, statutory time limits, delivery estimates — count working days (Monday to Friday) rather than calendar days. This calculator counts the weekdays in your range, though it does not subtract UK bank holidays, so add those manually for a precise legal deadline. To express the same gap as an age, try our age calculator; for a leave entitlement, see the holiday entitlement calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I count the days between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later one. The calculator does this using real calendar maths, so it handles different month lengths and leap years and shows the exact number of days, weeks and months.
How many working days are between two dates?
Working days count Monday to Friday and exclude weekends. The calculator counts these for you, which is useful for project deadlines and notice periods, though it does not subtract public holidays.
Does the count include the start and end date?
By default the calculator counts the gap between the two dates (so the start date is day zero). It also shows the inclusive count, which adds one day to include both the start and end dates.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. Because the tool compares actual calendar dates, any 29 February inside the range is automatically counted, so the total is always exact.
Can I count days to a future date?
Yes. Use a future date as your end date to count down to a deadline, holiday, birthday or event. The calculator works the same way for past and future ranges.
