State Pension age by date of birth
Your State Pension age is the earliest age you can start receiving your State Pension. It may be different to the age you can take a workplace or personal pension, and there is no longer a forced retirement age, so you can keep working. The ages are set by date of birth in Schedule 4 to the Pensions Act 1995, as changed by later Pensions Acts.
Born between 6 March 1961 and 5 April 1977, your State Pension age is 67. Born on or after 6 April 1978, it is 68. Born between 6 April 1960 and 5 March 1961, you are in the current rise and reach it at 66 plus 1 to 11 months.

Could my State Pension age change?
It could. The Pensions Act 2014 requires the government to review State Pension age regularly. The second review, in 2023, kept the timetable in law: 66 to 67 between April 2026 and April 2028, and 67 to 68 between April 2044 and April 2046. A third review was launched in July 2025 to consider whether the rules are still right, based on the latest life expectancy data. This calculator follows the law as it stands in September 2026.
